Legendary Hollywood actor and comedian Robin Williams has died at age 63. He was found dead today Monday August 11th in his home in Tiburon California. Police suspect he committed suicide by asphyxiation . His publicist said he had been battling severe depression for a while.

There was panic in Victoria Island today after a suspected Ebola patient was found to be admitted at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC clinic on Muri Okunola. The patient was said to have first been admitted at First Consultant Medical Centre around the same time Liberian Patrick Sawyer was being treated at the clinic. Men suited in white safety clothing and an ambulance were seen at the hospital around one 1pm today. Though there's no definite confirmation that the patient is infected with Ebola, the Management of NNPC Clinic this evening announced the indefinite shutdown of the clinic. The management said its a pre-emptive step and also said they have reported the issue to the Federal Ministry of Health as well as officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Health. Below is the State House press release... President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Friday in Abuja declared the control and containment of the Ebola virus in Nigeria, a National Emergency. Two officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Obokun LGA of Osun state have been arrested for diverting sensitive voting materials ahead of tomorrow's governorship election in the state. When interrogated, one of the men who is the Electoral Officer for the LGA confessed to the act but refused to name those who sent him as he pleaded for Mercy. Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde Marshall aka K1 De Ultimate and his wife Opeyemi Fatia just welcomed a baby girl. Mrs K1 gave birth today August 8th at exactly 2.10pm Nigerian time at St Bernard Hospital in Chicago. The elated father was beside the wife when the bundle of joy was brought to the world. Both mother and child are said to be doing well. Congrats to them.

The Federal government has confirmed two more cases of Ebola virus disease in Lagos. This brings to a total of 9 confirmed cases in Nigeria, seven infected with the disease and two dead.  The federal government also said about 139 persons who have had direct or indirect contact with the confirmed cases are currently under surveillance. Meanwhile President Jonathan has summoned an emergency meeting at the State House Abuja over the virus outbreak in the country.

In a televised late-night statement from the White House yesterday August 7th, US president Barack Obama said he has authorized US airstrikes in Northern Iraq to defend hundreds of thousands of non-Muslims being hunted down and slaughtered by ISIS. This is coming weeks after American military planes carried out airdrops of humanitarian aid to thousands of Iraqi Yazidis surrounded by ISIS militants and desperately in need of food and water.  ISIS has been ruthlessly hunting and slaughtering members of the ancient Yazidi religion, a faith derived from Zoroastrianism, Christianity and Islam, who ISIS have denounced as devil-worshipers on account of their ancient set of beliefs. The Nigerian Police have arrested an 18 year old boy, Hounvenou Yavine, a national of the Republic of Benin, for slitting the throat of his boss’ mother, Mrs. Mariam Abiola. According to Punch , Yavine was brought into Lagos in April 2014 by his elder sister on the request of late Mrs Abiola's daughter. He was then taken to the Ikeja home of the late 78 year old woman to serve as her househlp as well as an assistant at her alcohol distribution shop. A month after his arrival, her home was demolished by the state government, prompting her to temporarily relocate to her daughter's home at the Ijaiye Low Cost Housing Estate, Pen Cinema Lagos where his primary assignment was to take care of her and also clean her daughter's house. On July 1st , Yavine, who was alone at home with the old woman, slit her throat and left her to die. No one knows why he killed the woman but when asked, the young boy said someone ask...

The younger brother of late former First Lady, Mrs Stella Obasanjo, Henry Abebe, has died. He died in the early hours of this morning Friday August 8th at a hospital in Abuja after a battle with Liver Cirrhosis, a source close to the family has revealed. The businessman and one time Executive Director at the Nigerian Ports Authority is survived by aged parents, his wife, Beatrice and children.

Whitenicious boss Dencia just wrote a long, brutal epistle on her instagram calling out NAFDAC boss Dr. Paul Orhii, over recent comments he made saying the agency may arrest Dencia over her Whitenicious product. “There is this Cameroonian singer that has been going around with a cream. If I get her, she’ll be arrested” Orhii allegedly said at the Nigerian Entertainment Industry Health Insurance Convention which held on July 22nd in Lagos. The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola Epidemic an International Health Emergency, stating that "a coordinated international response is deemed essential to stop and reverse the international spread of Ebola" which h as killed almost a 1000 people in four west African countries. At an emergency meeting today August 8th, the Geneva based UN health agency said the declaration of an international emergency will help in raising the level of vigilance for transmission of the virus. WHO advised countries identified to have been infested by the deadly Ebola virus - Guinea, Nigeria, Sierra Lieone and Liberia - to declare a state of emergency and that there should be no general ban on international travel or trade on these countries. The U.S has taken control of $480million which is part of money stolen by former military dictator General Sani Abacha, after a court ruling in D.C on Wednesday August 6th. The U.S Department of Justice will now hand over the stolen money to Nigerian government, U.S government spokesman said yesterday.
